Frequently Asked Questions
The most common question I get asked, usually verbatim, is
"How exactly does tutoring work?"
Though I hope to clarify the specifics below, broadly speaking, tutoring is a tool to be used by students and families as they see fit. It can serve as a short-term bridge via which to acquire new, self-sustaining skills, or as a lasting partnership during which a student receives regular support aimed at addressing misconceptions, tackling weekly assignments, and staying one step ahead of content being taught in school. I have students who have been with me for years, and others who graduate from tutoring once they've reached their personal goal (e.g. preparing for the SAT/ACT). To that end, the goal *as defined by you* is what determines the structure; you decide what tutoring looks like in format and rigor, while I work to provide meaningful instruction to help you reach your full potential.
What is your availability?
I book sessions seven days a week, 9 AM to 11 PM—though most tutoring takes place during non-school hours, when K-12 students are home. Many students prefer to book standing weekly sessions so as to guarantee availability and establish routine. When booking on a first come, first served basis, I do everything to accommodate last minute requests, as I'm sensitive to the fact that tests and assignments often pop up with little notice! Outside of my sessions, I am available to students via text, email, and phone during all waking hours, assuring they are never without support.
Where do sessions take place?
All tutoring takes place virtually via Google Meet, Zoom, and FaceTime—whichever platform a student prefers.
How much do you charge?
I charge $125 per hour for general tutoring and $150 per hour for SAT/ACT tutoring, with an hour being the most common amount of time booked. Since I don't want any student to be without aid on account of price, I can also put together a study plan (to be completed autonomously) for a one-time fee, or recommend online/written resources free of charge. Please don't hesitate to reach out, as I will do everything to assure a prospective student gets the right assistance, be it from me or another source.
I look forward to working with you!
